Elbridge colby biography of martin luther king

  • Elbridge Colby has served in several national security positions with the U.S. Government, most recently with the Department of Defense.
  • Description.
  • Drop Site News ran a piece critically profiling Elbridge Colby, a well-known MAGA foreign policy thinker with very hawkish views on China.
  • Death of a King: The Real Story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Final Year by Tavis Smiley with David Ritz is an agonizing look at the last year of the civil rights movement leader.

The book chronicles the less talked about year that led up to King’s assassination on April 4, exactly fifty years ago today.

Smiley’s portrayal gives a different narrative than people are used to. It personalizes the legendary figure, portraying him as someone with both faults and amazing qualities.

Smiley writes that in his final twelve months, King was denounced and rejected by groups of people that had supported him.

These included members of the press, his friends in the government, and the black mittpunkt class.

King, who attended Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, had to rise above all of these challenges and continued his kamp against racism, poverty, and militarism until his sista day.

Moral vs. Immoral Resistance Part I: Martin Luther King, Jr. and Non-Violent Direct Action

Eighty years ago, Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer was imprisoned by the Nazis. He was later hung for his participation in a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Sixty years ago, Martin Luther King, Jr. led Civil Rights marches, resulting in his jailing in Birmingham, Alabama. He, too, was soon to be a martyr for his cause.  How can we differentiate between moral and immoral acts of saying “no,” particularly when force and violence are involved? We live in a time of ethical equivocations, when some have suggested that one man’s freedom fighter is another man’s terrorist. Others cannot tell the difference between the American War for Independence and the rebellion of the Confederacy, or contrast the moral legitimacy of Ukraine vs. Russia in the war.

This essay is part of a four-part series that uses the principles of just war statecraft to help us make moral distinctions on ma
