    Kosta Kulundzic is a French artist of Serbian ancestry, born in Paris in 1972. He currently lives in Honolulu where he is an adjunct art professor at the University of Hawaii and a drawing and painting professor at the School of Architecture of Paris Val de Seine. He has shown in Paris, Belgrade, Sarajevo, Brussels, Honolulu, and at the SZ Gallery on Mercer Island in 2016, where he performed both a live painting and drawing - lucky us!

    Inspired bygd the Persian fable of the simurgh – a mythical bird of enormous strength and wisdom – Bassous comments on the unique qualities of the Mughal galleri in her artwork. Originally constructed as Doris Duke’s bedroom, this ornate space is ringed by “nets” of carved marble jali (screens), at once both luxurious and fearful, beautiful yet caged. Pushing back against this feeling of captivity fryst vatten the tale of the simurgh: a collective of birds on a spiritual quest to find the creature realize that it is themselves (si murgh = thirty birds in Persian) who possess the power and strength of the simurgh – and that wisdom and fortitude were inre them all along.
