    I don’t remember the crash.

    I don’t even remember waking up from my coma.

    I do however remember my mom saying to me, “Ok, Daphne, this is the guy you gotta show”.

    I didn’t find out until later that my mother had said that to me when I was still in my coma.

    When I think back, I can remember seeing faces.

    I think the only reason I wasn’t confused was because I always had someone telling me what was happening.

    I do remember feeling the love that everyone felt for me.

    I have since been told all about what happened on October 27, 1992 and I will now tell you.

    My mother and I were involved in a near fatal car accident. From what I have been told, and looking at the pictures, I understand that we were broadsided. I was told that I broke the passenger window with my head and was pulled from the car. But from looking at the pictures I’m glad I was pulled from the vehicle.     Samuel William Shaw, 1840-1919, was born in England. In 1862 he eloped with, and married, Helen York, 1846-1941. The family moved to western Canada in 1883. They travelled to the end of the railway, then near Swift Current, and travelled west by oxcart to Calgary, Alberta. They settled south of the city at Fish Creek (later Midnapore). In 1890 they opened the Midnapore Woollen Mill, the first such mill in western Canada. Mrs. Shaw opened a tailor shop in Calgary to market the mill's products. The family ran the mill until 1905 when it was sold to Buchan and Murray. Mr. Shaw then opened a store in Midnapore called the Midnapore Supply Company.
