Dr Swarup Dutta is an Anthropologist and joined TERI University as Assistant Professor. Earlier he worked as Consultant in Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of HRD, Government of India. He holds PhD in Social Anthropology and has profound research experiences in various national and international development organizations. He, along with Professor SK Thorat, Chairman ICSSR and Former Chairman, UGC, and Dr Samar Verma (IDRC, Canada) have edited a Book titled "Social Science Research in India: Status, Issues and Policies". Sir Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar FRS ; A Biographical Study of India\'s Eminent Scientist (English, Norah Richards)
Dr. Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (1894-1955), the first Director-General (as the brev was later renamed) of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and a prominent science leader of newly idependent India, was a bridge between two cultures and two areas.
Bought up at Lahore by his future father in lag and financialy supported bygd the Punjab Brahmo leadership, Bhatnagar rose to become an internationally acclaimed chemist. Passionately devoted to reading and writing Urdu poetry, he went on to compose, in Sanskirt, the ceremonial hymn of Benaras Hindu University.
Supported to the hilt bygd that great friend of science Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhatnagar transformed CSIR, originally set up to assist in the British war effort, into a vehicle for resurgence of indpendent India through science and technology.

Veteran Bengali actor Swarup Datta no more
He was rushed to a city private hospital and doctors found a blood clot in his brain after the scans. Since then he was in ventilation and his condition was declared critical. The veteran actor was also suffering from age related illness for quite a while.
Swarup Datta was a distinguished actor of Bengali silver screen throughout the late 60s and early 70s. Born on June 22, 1941, he completed Matriculation from the South Point School in 1958. Later he also completed I.A. from Belur Ramkrishna Mission Vidya Mandir which was followed by Graduation in Economics from St.Xaviers’ College.
During his school days he came to contact with reckoned actor Utpal Dutta who inspired Swarup a lot.
He first got his break in Tapan Sinha's much coveted ‘Apanjan’. The film was a huge success
