Brown Gibbons Lang & Company (BGL) is pleased to announce the sale of Barnett Outdoors LLC (Barnett), to Surge Outdoors. The specific terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The transaction furthers BGL’s market-leading position in outdoor enthusiast investment banking and as an advisor to companies across a range of branded consumer products. In addition, Barnett’s fast-growing outdoor gear eCommerce business provides significant growth opportunities and represents another core area of focus for BGL’s Consumer Investment Banking Group.
Founded in 1962, Barnett operates as a premium retail crossbow and archery accessories brand. Its portfolio of innovative, patent-protected products is sold to a diversified base of top-tier retailers. Ryan Busbice is a well-known and successful entrepreneur in the hunting industry, having founded and built Wildgame Innovations / Synergy Outdoors into one of the largest companies in the business. Synergy Outdoors & Plano Molding merged in 2013 forming Plano Synergy Holdings. Ryan was promoted to President in 2015, and sat on the board for Plano Synergy Holdings. While overseeing facets of the entire company, Ryan spent most of his time focusing on Sales and Customer Relationships, Innovation, and the New Product Development Program. He also led the company’s Advanced Concepts Tactical Team for Brand and Marketing. Plano Synergy sold to pure Fishing and GSM Outdoors in 2021. Ryan currently serves as co-owner and CEO of Barnett Crossbows and Surge Outdoors. Prior to the Plano Synergy Holdings merger in 2013, Ryan served as President/CEO of Synergy Outdoors for 10 years.

NEW ROADS, LA (WAFB) - Two Louisiana hunters moved their business headquarters to New Roads after city and parish officials each gave the owners $46,000 to relocate. Part of the plan includes more jobs and potentially more future expansion.
Ryan and Matt Busbice are brothers from Broussard who run "Wildgame Innovations." They invented many of the products they sell, like the deer supplement and attractant, "Acorn Rage." The final product is anywhere from $3 to $5. Total gross proceeds for the company were $20 million last year. They recently bought out a similar Baton Rouge business called "Evolutions." They inherited products like "Deer Cane." The merger meant they would have to move to make room for expansion.
"In most cases when a company buys another company, you make the other company move to where you are," said Ryan. "You know in most cases, but not this time."
