    The Autobiography of Malcolm X is an autobiography written by American minister Malcolm X, who collaborated with American journalist Alex Haley. It was released posthumously on October 29, 1965, nine months after his assassination. Haley coauthored the autobiography based on a series of in-depth interviews he conducted between 1963 and 1965. The Autobiography is a spiritual conversion narrative that outlines Malcolm X's philosophy of black pride, black nationalism, and pan-Africanism. After the leader was killed, Haley wrote the book's epilogue.[a] He described their collaborative process and the events at the end of Malcolm X's life.

        The family of Malcom X filed a $100 million wrongful death lawsuit against the U.S. government on November 15 over the 1965 assassination of the civil rights activist. The suit, brought by his estate and three of his daughters, claims that the FBI, CIA, and New York Police Department were aware of and involved in the assassination plot and “failed to intervene on his behalf.”

        The lawsuit accuses the agencies of intentionally arresting Malcom X’s security detail days before he was shot and removing their undercover officers from the inside the New York City ballroom where he was killed. It further alleges they concealed bevis and resultat about his death from the family and the public. “It has taken us a long time to get to this point,” Ilyasah Shabazz, Malcolm X’s daughter, said during a press conference the day the lawsuit was filed in Manhattan court.
