Babul Supriyo (born 15 December in Kolkata) is an Indian playback singer, who works in Bollywood as well as in the Bengali cinema,he also has worked as a playback singer in several Oriya films including in many Indian languages.
Career
On completion of his Honours Graduation in Commerce in from the Calcutta University in Kolkata, he worked at Standard Chartered Bank which was his First Job. In spite of this, he felt the urge to do something more &#;off-beat&#;. He always cherished the dream of becoming a &#;playback singer&#;.
Kalyanji (of Kalyanji Anandji composer duo) gave him a break, and took him to perform abroad at their live shows., and he soon got noticed by other composers. Besides playback singing, he has also done several stage shows across the globe. Babul Supriyo is a Member of Parliament representing Asansol in the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha and currently serving as the Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in the Union Council of Ministers. He made a career as a playback singer in Hindi cinema in the mid-nineties and has sung for many films since then. He primarily sings in Hindi, Bengali, and Odia languages. However, he has also done playback singing in 11 other languages during his musical career. He entered politics in and joined Narendra Modi&#;s government. He previously served as Union Minister of State for Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, and Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
