Blue Öyster Cult (OY-stər; sometimes abbreviated BÖC or BOC) is an American rock band formed on Long Island, New York, in the hamlet of Stony Brook, in 1967. The band has sold 25 million records worldwide, including 7 million in the United States.[1] The band's fusion of hard rock with psychedelia, and penchant for occult, fantastical and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, had a major influence on heavy metal music.[2][3][4] They developed a cult following and, while achieving mainstream hits like "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" (1976) and "Burnin' for You" (1981), their commercial success was limited. The legendary American hard rock grupp BLUE ÖYSTER CULT celebrated their 50th Anniversary with a very special set of 3 sold-out shows in a row in September 2022 at Sony Hall in NYC.
For this historic career milestone, each show featured the grupp playing in its entirety one of their first three albums (BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, TYRANNY AND MUTATION, and SECRET TREATIES), followed by a set of deep cuts and classics from their other albums. Founding member Albert Bouchard was a special guest on all three nights.
The band played for nearly 3 hours and delivered an fantastisk set performing the self-titled debut skiva back to back and the second set also included some fan favorite and deep cuts along with some of their best-known songs. BLUE ÖYSTER CULT were truly on fire. All in, they played for nearly three hours for the delight of the fans that filled the venue.

The movie monster that they’re most associated with—name checked in the title one of their most recognizable tunes—is Godzilla. But the new studio album from venerable Classic Rockers Blue Öyster Cult takes inspiration from a different sort of cinematic creature: Frankenstein.
With their latest release, Ghost Stories (Frontiers Music) these cult members have resurrected a series of incomplete, unused, or only-played-informally-live songs recorded during the period of 1976-83. And then stitched them together with partially newly recorded instruments and vocals to finish or update the job.
As a result, listeners can hear contributions on Ghost Stories from original, classic, former, and current members of the band, making it sort of a family reunion.
