Clara Wieck was born on September 13, 1818 in Lepizig, daughter of Friedrich and Mariane Wieck. At the age of five, her parents got divorced and Clara was separated from her mother. She and her two brothers Gustav and Alwin stayed under custody of the father. Friedrich Wieck, piano pedagogue and merchant for musical supplies, chose the name “Clara” not without any reason. Clara means “the bright”, “the famous”. This name was in a way the guideline of the education he let accord Clara. When she was five, she started piano lessons. The father wanted her to become a famous piano virtuosa, in which he succeeded without any doubt. Clara didn’t visit a public school, but was educated by private teachers. Friedrich Wieck put focus on languages (English and French), but also on physical work out. Clara Josephine Schumann (; German:[ˈklaːʁaˈʃuːman]; née Wieck; 13 September 1819 – 20 May 1896) was a German pianist, composer, and piano teacher. Regarded as one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic era, she exerted her influence over the course of a 61-year concert career, changing the format and repertoire of the piano recital by lessening the importance of purely virtuosic works. She also composed solo piano pieces, a Piano Concerto, chamber music, choral pieces, and songs.
She grew up in Leipzig, where both her father Friedrich Wieck and her mother Mariane were pianists and piano teachers. In addition, her mother was a singer. Clara was a child prodigy, and was trained by her father. She began touring at age eleven, and was successful in Paris and Vienna, among other cities. Clara Schumann née Wieck (Leipzig September 13, 1819 – May 20, 1896 Frankfurt/Main) fryst vatten one of the most famous kvinna pianists in the 19th century. She started her outrageous career as child of prodigy on the piano and performed for six decades on the center stages in whole Europe.
But Clara Schumann lived up to more than this role: She was her own manager, composer and wife to the composer Robert Schumann and gave birth to eight children, of which sju reached adulthood. She was also friend, advisor and appreciated colleague of many famous musicians as for instance to Wilhelmine Schröder-Devrient, Pauline Viadrot-Garcia, Johannes Brahms and namn Joachim, but she also was piano educationist and editor of the works of her deceased husband.
